Jack Scott was born in an army barracks in Canterbury, England and spent part of his childhood in Malaysia as an army brat. At the age of eighteen and determined to dodge further education, Jack became a shop boy on the Kings Road. Swapping sales for security, Jack eventually embarked on a thirty-year career in local government. By his mid-forties, passionately dissatisfied with suburban life and middle management, he and his civil partner, Liam, abandoned the liberal sanctuary of anonymous London for an uncertain future in a Moslem country. In 2010, Jack started an irreverent narrative about his new life and PerkingthePansies.com quickly became one of the most popular English language blogs in Turkey. As the blog developed a head of steam, a growing worldwide audience clamoured for a book. Six months later, his hilarious memoir, "Perking the Pansies and Surviving the Expats In Turkey", hit the streets. Within 12 short months Jack has been featured in the Turkish National Press, is a resident columnist at ontheege.com, has published numerous essays and articles in expat and travel magazines and has been invited to speak at the renowned Polari Literary Salon in London.
